Welcome to the DCEHL Website

After a month or two of bugging Brett for pictures of scoresheets, pestering team captains for rosters and jersey logos, and a whole lot of coding by me, here it is; the brand spankin' new, unofficial website for the Dover Co-Ed Hockey League!

It's my hope that this site will give players a way to keep up with what's going on in the league. I incorporated everything from a game schedule and standings, to player stats and player profiles. The DCEHL is a community more-so than anything, populated by folks from all walks that share in a mutual love of hockey. We all come to the rink, gear up, and spend an hour or so on the ice having fun. While there are no scouts in the stands and nobody's going to "the show," I hope this website can at least make everyone feel like a pro.

League Logo

The spiffy logo you see in the site header is courtesy of a graphic designer buddy of mine. When I was telling him I was looking for a logo, the things I told him that I wanted to incorporate were the co-ed aspect of the league, the Dover town seal colors, and hockey - obviously - and I think he crushed it! I hope all of you like it too. He mentioned that "It would look great on a trophy," but we don't want to get too ahead of ourselves... I mean, the inflatable Stanley Cup we all play to win is pretty rad.

Known Issues

First and foremost, the site doesn't look great on mobile devices yet. The initial release is best experienced using a web browser/computer, but I hope to work on making it mobile friendly in the coming weeks. My primary goal was to just get it completed.

You'll probably have noticed that you just get a "Coming Soon" message when you click on a player's name. That's because I'm still working on the player profile page... Speaking of which, a key part of the profiles is going to be player photos. I'm hoping to actually organize some photo days to take some nice, uniformed photos of everyone (who wants one) to show on the page/site.

Also, the stats and standings are up to date as of today with some minor exceptions. The details for the two games played on January 27th haven't been entered into the system yet. We'll be tracking down those scoresheets and getting the data entered in the coming days.

Closing Thoughts

I'm pretty happy with how the website turned out, and I hope that everyone playing in the league enjoys it too. If you notice any issues or have any suggestions, feel free to give me a shout!
