The Fall 2021 Season Kicks Off
October 4, 2021
Posted by: David Beaudoin

It’s October which means several things… Pumpkin spice everything. Tons of Halloween candy. Spooky decorations starting to materialize inside and outside of people’s homes. But most importantly, hockey season is starting. While the big leagues are still in the middle of their pre-season schedules, the DCEHL Fall 2021 season is kicking off tonight with four big games!

The slate of action for opening night is as follows:

PowerPro Electric vs NHMS @ 6:30pm

Blue Roosters vs Dover Gold @ 7:40pm

Red Army vs Grey Squirrels @ 8:50pm

Black Knights vs Dover Purple Pain @ 10:00pm

Perhaps the biggest storyline of the season is the quest to unseat the Northern Division champs, the Purple Pain. They were dominant during the Summer 2021 tilt, leading the league in pretty much every category. Backstopped by veteran tendy Todd Holway, Purple continue to be a force to be reckoned with, and with no change in their lineup, they’ll surely be seeking a repeat.

Other teams seeing no change (so far) are the Red Army and the Black Knights.

A few teams in the league see some shifts in personnel, leading to new looks and the chance to meet or exceed their progress from the summer season. There’s always a little bit of a shift in the lineups going from spring-to-summer and summer-to-fall, and Fall 2021 is no different.

The Grey Squirrels lost four of their veteran players (Dalton Briggs, Nick Foxlow, Gary Seaver, and Liz Rollins), but picked up some strong additions in the form of two former Dover Gold skaters (Ryan Baer and John Comrie), the captain’s step-son Raleigh Martin, the returning Jill Sikora, and a solid newcomer named Vaughn Hernandez between the pipes.

Dover Gold saw a very minor roster change with stalwart D-man Dan Connor taking the fall off, and the return of veteran Gold skater, Tim Carlin.

The Blue Roosters are having a change in net with the departure of longtime net-minder Holly Zeldenrust and the return of their former goalie, Troy Slowik.

PowerPro Electric had one minor change with newcomer Kurt Oulette replacing Leanne Wancheck.

NHMS sees its captain Jeff Cole stepping aside for the fall and a new TBD player filling his spot on the roster.

It should be an exciting season, so be sure not to miss any of the action!
