It's a new week and that means four more exciting games in the DCEHL's Fall campaign! Monday night's games featured an empty cage, lots of goals, and a little bit of special teams magic.

NHMS vs Grey Squirrels - Game Summary

The first action of the evening pitted NHMS (1-1-0-0) against the Grey Squirrels (1-1-0-0). It would be a slow contest for the boys in White as their goalie was unavailable for play, leaving them with a yawning cage to protect all night while still looking to generate some offense and bank another W. They would ultimately succumb to the lack of protection between the pipes, falling 5-3 to the Grey team. Two players on both teams had multi-point nights; Bickford and Rollins on Grey, and Ferguson and Barrasso on White.

Dover Gold vs Black Knights - Game Summary

Game number two would take extra time to decide a victor, with Dover Gold (0-1-0-1) and the Black Knights (1-1-0-0) ending up in a shootout. Both teams took several penalties during the course of the game resulting in several power play opportunities for both teams, but neither were able to convert. Gold's offense was highlighted by the first goal of the season from Gold rookie, John Comrie. His opening tally was followed by a hat trick from veteran Forward Sam Raynor. The goals from Black were spread across three different players, with Forward Tony Martuscello starting the scoring, followed by Forward Bram Hepburn, and two from Forward Tobin Farwell. Black would finally put Gold away, winning the shootout and the game, 5-4.

Red Army vs Green - Game Summary

Special teams would be on display in the third game, where the Red Army (1-1-0-0) were taking on the Green team (1-1-0-0). Red would strike first with Forward Frank Gillespie burying a power play goal a few minutes into the game. Green was able to tie the game up late in the 1st with a PPG of their own courtesy of Forward Jon Springer; the first of his two goals in the game. It wouldn't be until late in the 3rd when Red finally pulled ahead off a goal from D-man Mike Briggs, and went on to win 3-2.

Blue Roosters vs Purple Pain - Game Summary

Monday's games wrapped up with a barn burner between the Blue Roosters (1-0-1-0) and the Purple Pain (1-0-1-0). The game would start slow with a scoreless 1st period, neither team able to find the back of the net. It wouldn't be until the 2nd period when offense from both teams came alive, resulting in a 2-2 tie headed into the locker rooms. The 3rd period would be another shooting gallery, with both teams each putting two more goals on the board. 13 different players across both teams recorded points and neither team committed any penalties; a close, but clean contest that would ultimately end in a 4-4 tie.

Next week the boys and girls of the DCEHL will be back at it, with four games on the slate for Monday, September 28th!
