The nights are getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change color. That means fall in New Hampshire is just around the corner, and it also means it was time for the DCEHL to kick off its Fall season. Opening night, Monday, September 14th, featured four games. Some games were close and others weren't, but all were exciting and had their own storylines!

Blue Roosters vs Red Army - Game Summary

The season opener was a contest between the Blue Roosters and the Red Army. It started off as a close contest with a 0-0 tie going into the third, but 6:46 into the 3rd, the Roosters broke the stalemate with a goal from newly anointed captain, Jeffrey Lapak. It would be the first of his two goals in the game, and the Blue Roosters would go on to win the contest 3-0. The victory gave goaltender Holly Zeldenrust her first shutout of the season!

Dover Gold vs NHMS - Game Summary

Following that game was a contest between Dover Gold and NHMS. Gold is in its second season with an almost entirely new roster, while NHMS has a group who have been playing together for a couple of years now. The first period ended with a 1-1 tie, created by both teams trading goals roughly a minute apart. NHMS took the lead in the 2nd and never looked back though, finding another gear in the 3rd period tallying three more goals to seal the deal. Gold found the back of the net a second time with 16 seconds left in the 3rd, but backstopped by Andrew Goldman, NHMS took the W with 5-2 final score. Defenceman Drew Koellmer and captain Jeff Cole both recorded their first multi-point games of the season.

Black Knights vs Purple Pain - Game Summary

The contest between the Black Knights and the Purple Pain ended in a similar fashion with a 3+ goal difference at the end. The Purple Pain took the lead in the 1st period with two goals, and the Black Knights were never able to catch up. They found the back of the net twice in the 3rd, but it was too little too late. Black fell to Purple with a final score of 6-2. Six different players on Purple recorded points in the game, and three of them - Benedict Christen, Nick King and Todd Shaffer - recorded multi-point games.

Grey Squirrels vs Green - Game Summary

When 10pm rolled around, it was time for the final game of the night; the undefeated Summer 2020 champions the Grey Squirrels against the Green team. Green took an early lead with a goal in the 1st period from Forward Em Bisson. The Grey Squirrels were able to tie it up in the 2nd with a goal from Forward Brad Bickford. Unfortunately, the Green team would find the back of the net once more in the 3rd and would go on to win the game, 2-1.

Week two's games start at 6:30pm next Monday, September 21st at Dover Arena.
